Brazil has won the inaugural 2016 BRICS U-17 Football Tournament 2. It was held in the Indian state of Goa on the occasion of the 8th BRICS summit. Tournaments began on 5 October and concluded with final on 15 October.

  • BRICS U-17 Football Cup 2016 was the first edition of the cup.
  • Brazil won the cup defeating South Africa by 5-1 goals.
  • Brazil’s goals were scored by :

    • Paulo Henrique Samapaio Filho (24th  Minute)
    • Vinicius de Oliveira (34th  minute)
    • Victor de Oliveira (40th  & 61st  minute)
  • Only goal for SA was scored by S’miso Bophela.
  • Russia had defeated China by 2-1 goals won the third place in this match.

  • Under 17 Football tournament played between teams of five BRICS countries:

  • Launched in October 2016
  • Seeks to increase interaction in the field of sports.
  • Each edition will be held in a BRICS nation.
  • All 5 teams play each other in a round-robin before the top 2 teams qualify for the final.
  • 3 and 4 place teams play in the third-place match.
