Overview

  • India has witnessed the highest number of diabetic cases.

  • It is expected to rise by 266 % by 2025, which accounts for nearly 69.9 million population that is very alarming.

  • The Central of Research in Ayurveda Sciences started an integrated research on Diabetes to treat the diabetes and proper health care services has been initiated.

  • CCRAS had developed the AYUSH82 formulation for diabetes and is available for commercial use by the public.

  • National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) is gearing up its efforts to promote this drug.

Diabetes

  • WHO estimated that around 8.4 % of population is diabetic in 2014.

  • It was between 10 % and 14 % in urban areas and between 3 % and 7 % in rural areas in India.

  • Around 12 % males and 11.7 % females are diabetic.

  • The highest prevalence is observed in the age group of 70 – 79 years.

  • It is an autonomous body set up in 1942.

  • It works under the administrative supervision of Union Ministry of Science and Technology it conducts research in a wide spectrum of science and technology
