Details of Post Matric Scholarship for OBC Students for Studying in India

  • Estimated cost of Scheme will be Rs. 3,085 cr.

  • Revised scheme will cover more OBC students & will ensure effective implementation & monitoring of scheme & achieve de-duplication.

  • It fully centrally sponsored scheme that aims to provide financial assistance to OBC students studying at post-matriculation or post-secondary stage to enable them to complete their education.

Revised Features of Post Matric Scholarship for Other Backward Classes Students for Studying in India:

  • Annual parental income will be increased from Rs. 1 Lakh to Rs. 1.5 lakh.

  • 30 % of funds allocated earmarked for girl students & 5 % for students w/disabilities.

  • Disbursement of scholarships thru Aadhaar seeded bank accounts.

  • Since Scheme is fund-limited, central assistance shall be released according to Notional Allocation. Concept of Committed Liability shall not apply to States/UTs for releases.
