Annually International Civil Aviation Day is observed on December 7. Aim is to raise awareness of the importance of international civil aviation and the role that the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) plays in international air transport. United Nations (UN) is responsible for developing international standards for aviation safety.

About International Civil Aviation Day

  • United Nations General Assembly decided the 7 December to be the International Civil Aviation Day, in 1996.
  • The day is celebrated by the International Civil Aviation Organization since 7 December 1994.
  • The 50th anniversary of the signing the Convention on International Civil Aviation was on 7 December 1994.
  • The day is still celebrated around the world for the people of the aviation community like ATC (air traffic control), airport management, and airlines and of course the aircraft themselves.
