The Trawl system recently crossed a major milestone with the successful completion of blast trials in collaboration with HEMRL Pune, which demonstrated the survivability of the equipment, when subjected to successive series of blast directly underneath it

  • Trawl System is to be used in the minefield area for breaching of land mines and creating a vehicle safe lane

  • Developed by R&DE (Engrs), a system-engineering laboratory under Armament & Combat Engineering (ACE) cluster of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

  • Equipment consists of Trawl roller, track width mine plough and electro- magnetic device (EMD) for neutralizing all types of mines encountered by the battle tank.

  • Trawl System capable of breaching both passive and active influence mines.

  • Fieldable prototype of the Trawl System in final stage of realization

  • Indigenous trawls an important step under ‘Make in India’ initiative saving precious foreign exchange for the country.

Successful Development Trials of Astra Missile

  • The final development flight trials of Astra - Beyond Visual Range Air to Air Missile (BVRAAM) successfully conducted over the Bay of Bengal, off the Coast of Chandipur, Odisha.

  • Seven successful trials conducted against Pilotless Target Aircrafts (PTA) with engagement at very long range, high maneuvering target at medium range and multiple launches of missiles engage multiple targets.

  • All the sub-systems including the indigenous RF Seeker performed accurately

  • Two missiles launched in the combat configuration destroyed warhead and the targets were neutralized.

  • BVRAAM being developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and IAF completed the development phase.

  • More than 50 public and private industries contributed to Astra weapon system.

  • Successfully hit both the targets under different ranges and conditions with very high accuracy

  • Complete functionality of Nag ATGM along with launcher system NAMICA established marking the successful completion of development trials of Nag Missile.

ATAGS: Indigenous Artillery Gun Sets New Record

  • The advanced towed artillery gun system (ATAGS) set a world record in range by hitting targets at distance of 48 km during trial firings at Pokhran, Rajasthan.

  • The record achieved with special ammunition high explosive – “base bleed” (HE – BB) developed by Kalyani Group.

  • ATAGS is a 155mm, 52 calibre towed artillery gun indigenously developed by DRDO and private sector consortium consisting of Bharat Forge Limited of Kalyani Group, Tata Power Strategic Engineering Division and Mahindra Defence Naval System along with Ordnance Factory Board.

  • Armament system of ATAGS comprises of a barrel, muzzle brake, breech mechanism, and recoil mechanism to fire 155 mm calibre ammunitions.

  • Has longer firing range of 40 Kms with accuracy and precision with night firing capability in direct fire mode.

  • Several significant advance features include an all-electric drive, high mobility, quick deployment, auxiliary power mode, advanced communication system, and automated command and control system.

  • Has a six round magazine, instead of a standard three rounds.

  • Weighs slightly more than normal due to the larger chamber.
