Delhi Polices’ Mobile App for Senior Citizens (Download PDF)

“Delhi Police Senior Citizen” mobile application was launched by the Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung to offer immediate assistance in distress. This was done at a function in New Delhi on International Day for Older Persons.

This application will provide safety to senior citizens, especially those living alone.

Key Features of App

  • Senior citizens can register themselves on the app simply by entering their mobile number on the app. SOS button in the app will integrated with a dedicated existing helpline for Senior Citizen – 1291.
  • Currently around 27,000 senior citizens are registered with the Delhi police.
  • After registration, a police officer will visit the house for verification and other formalities.
  • The SOS button will divert call to the station in case of emergency.
  • If the user is ill then the ambulance will be sent.
  • For other emergencies, a beat constable will contact the user.
  • If the user doesn’t respond to operator’s calls then a beat constable will visit the house to verify the reason for distress.
