Donate-A-Pension Scheme

The Union Labour and Employment Minister recently rolled out the ‘Donate-a-Pension’ program under Pradhan Mantri Shram with an aim to create and contribute to the pension of the support staff. People under the initiative could donate the premium contribution of their immediate support staff like drivers, domestic workers, helpers, etc.
PM-SYM (Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan) is a 50: 50 voluntary and contributory pension scheme wherein the beneficiary makes a stipulated age-specific contribution and the Central Government matches it.
About
- If a person joins the system at the age of 29, he/she should give ₹ 100 per month until he/she reaches the age of 60 with the Central Government՚s contribution of an equal amount of ₹ 100 at the same point.
- The subscriber would get the assured monthly pension of ₹ 3000/- along with benefit of family pension.
- Any worker of the unorganized sector could be the beneficiary of the scheme such as home-based workers, street vendors, mid-day meal workers, head loaders, brick kiln workers, cobblers, rag pickers, domestic workers, washer men, rickshaw pullers, landless laborers, own account workers, agricultural workers, construction workers, beedi workers, handloom, workers, leather workers, audio-visual workers, and any other similar occupations.
- Any worker according to the Labour Ministry whose monthly income is ₹ 15,000/per month or less and belong to the entry age group of 18 - 40 years are eligible for the scheme.
- He/she should not be an income tax payer.
- They shouldn՚t be covered under New Pension Scheme (NPS) Employees՚State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) scheme or Employees՚ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) .
National Pension System
- Introduced with effect from January 2004 by the Central Government except for armed forces.
- This scheme is being implemented and regulated by the PFRDA (Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority) in the country.
- This was made available to all the Indian citizens from May 2009.
- This scheme could be joined by any individual citizen of India in the age group of 18 - 65 years.
- Not eligible for opening of NPS accounts:
- OCI (Overseas Citizens of India) card holders
- PIO (Person of Indian Origin) card holders
- Hindu Undivided Family (HUFs)
Atal Pension Yojana
- This scheme was launched in May 2015.
- The objective is to create a universal social security system for all Indians especially:
- Poor
- Under-privileged
- Workers in the unorganized sector
- This scheme is administered by Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority through NPS.
- This scheme could be joined by any Indian citizen with age of the subscriber between 18 - 40 years.
- A minimum guaranteed pension ranging from ₹ 1000 to ₹ 5000 is provided on attaining 60 years of age.
