Envis Portal and Mobile Application Has Been Launched by the Union Government


The Environment Information System (ENVIS) portal and mobile application has been launched by the Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar. The national interaction-cum-evaluation workshop for Environment Information System is sidelines behind this launch.

  • With parallel to the objectives of Digital India ENVIS Portal is runs which works on improving the digital literacy in the environment sector and deliver services digitally.
  • In integrating network of ENVIS centres this portal may play an important role.

About Environment Information System (ENVIS):

  • Since 1982 ENVIS is central sector Scheme of the MOEFCC.
  • Integrate country-wide efforts in environmental information collection, storage, collation, retrieval and dissemination is main aim behind implementation of this scheme.
  • 69 centres is presently included in the ENVIS network and out of which 29 are under environment departments of various state governments/UT administrations and remaining 40 are gone under environment-related government and non-governmental organizations.
