The Museo Atlantico is the first of its kind in Europe and has been painstakingly put together by British eco-artist Jason deCaires Taylor. It is Situated 14 metres underwater. It is featuring dozens of humanoid sculptures based on real people.

About Museo Atlantico

  • It is Located off the coast of the Canary Islands.
  • It spreads over a 2, 500-square-metre area; it is accessible to snorkellers and divers.
  • Visitors who do not wish to get in water can observe the installations through glass bottom boats.
  • This is not the first underwater project by Taylor; but the project is the first underwater museum in Europe and in the Atlantic Ocean.
  • It is Europe’s first underwater sculpture museum.
  • Featuring over 300 life-sized figures across 12 fittings positioned at 39 feet on the seabed.
  • It took almost three years to complete.
  • It is sprawling with statues of massive sizes located off the coast.
  • The sculptures are made of pH neutral materials and are designed to survive for hundreds of years in water.

  • Other intriguing highlights include a suited businessman in a children’s playground, a swing and sea saw and children paddling along in fishing boats.
