Mission Raksha Gyan Shakti

  • Instituted by Dept. of Defence Production as part of ongoing initiatives to enhance self-reliance in defence.
  • Aimed to provide boost to IPR culture in indigenous defence industry.
  • Main objective was to inculcate IP culture in Indian defence manufacturing ecosystem.
  • Directorate General of Quality Assurance (DGQA) was entrusted w/responsibility of coordinating & implementing programme.
  • Salient inventions & innovations achieved by DRDO, Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) & Ordnance Factories (OFs) that have resulted in successful filing of IPR applications were showcased.

CSIR to Establish a High-End Skill Development Centre in Chandigarh

  • National Research Laboratory CSIR-IMTECH (Council of Scientific & Industrial Research-Institute of Microbial Technology) announced new partnership w/Merck, leading German Science & Technology Company, to establish ‘High End Skill Development Centre’ in CSIR-IMTECH, Chandigarh.
  • Merck in collaboration w/CSIR-IMTECH will use their expertise in Life Science to build centre which will help researchers & students develop advanced competencies & analytical skills required for life science research

Features of High-End Skill Development Centre

  • Centre is Equipped w/next generation technologies, like gene editing & single molecule biomarker detection. Centre will facilitate active experience to learning & real time sample analysis.

Discussion Paper entitled ″ 3 Essential ″ S ″ s of Climate Finance - Scope, Scale & Speed: A Reflection ″ on sidelines of COP 24 to UNFCCC at Katowice, Poland was released.

Abstract of 3 Essential “S՚s” of Climate Finance - Scope, Scale & Speed: a Reflection

  • Analytically scope, scale, & speed required in climate finance.
  • While financial requirements of developing countries run into trillions of Dollars, commitments made by developed countries for enhancement & support in relation to climate finance is not clearly translated into reality.
  • Equally imp. is issue of reporting & tracking of climate finance. Discussion Paper finds serious concerns w/various numbers on climate finance reported by developed countries.
  • This Paper attempts to identify essential elements, systematically, for robust & transparent accounting of climate finance flows from developed to developing countries.

National Challenge for Youth- “Ideate for India- Creative Solutions Using Technology”

Minister of State Development of North Eastern Region, launched “Integrated Government On-line Training” (iGOT) courses facility for officers in GoI. New hi-tech mechanism developed by Dept. of Personnel & Training (DoPT) will further supplement & strengthen existing training programmes thru “Massive Open On-line Courses” (MOOCs) .

About Integrated Government Online Training Programme

  • Program will make training inputs available to govt. servant on-site & on flextime basis.
  • Minister launched hybrid course on administrative laws in collaboration w/premier law institute National Law School of India University (NLSIU) , Bengaluru
  • RTI Portal on judgments & orders of SC, high courts & Central Information Commission was launched.
  • It provides a learning environment for all stakeholders under which a repository on the landmark cases on the RTI will be available at one place, it said.
