Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF)

  • Established in 2002.

  • 👌 Provides effective subsidies to ensure telegraph services.

  • Provided to everyone across India, especially in the rural and remote areas.

  • Headed by USOF Administrator who reports to the Secretary, Department of Telecommunication (DoT).

  • Funds come from Universal Service Levy (USL) of 5 % charged from all the telecom operators on their Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR).

  • USOF works through a bidding process, where funds are given to the enterprise quoting the lowest bid.

Deen Dayal SPARSH Yojana

  • Launched by Union Ministry of communications.

  • 👌 SPARSH: Scholarship for Promotion of Aptitude & Research in Stamps as a Hobby.

  • A pan India scholarship program for school children to increase the reach of Philately.

  • Government will award 920 scholarships to students pursuing Philately as hobby.

  • Philately is hobby of collection and study of Postage stamps.
