Tree Plantation Drive

  • Launched by Border Roads Organisation (BRO) under Ministry of Defence.

  • A massive tree plantation drive in the Northern & Eastern states of India.

  • One of the biggest ever tree plantation drive undertaken by the BRO.

  • Aim to protect the ecology and increase the green cover along the border areas of the Country.

  • BRO develops and maintains road networks in India’s border areas and friendly neighbouring countries.

  • Currently, the organisation maintains operations in 21 states, one UT, and neighbouring countries such as Afghanistan, Bhutan, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka.

Umbrella Scheme

  • Cabinet Committee of Security (CCS) approved implementation of umbrella scheme of Modernization of Police Forces (MPF) for 2017 to 2020.

  • 👌Biggest ever internal security scheme in country.

  • Features of scheme:

    • Special provision of scheme

    • J & K, North Eastern and LWE States

    • Upgradation of Infrastructure

    • Integration of Police Stations

    • Forensic science laboratories

Smart Ganga City Scheme

  • Union Government launched first phase in 10 cities located along River Ganga.

  • First phase jointly launched by the Union Urban Development Minister and Union Water Resources Minister.

  • Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) and improve drainage network will be set up on hybrid annuity mode on public private partnership basis.

Accelerated Irrigation Benefits Program (AIBP)

  • 👌Launched in 1996 - 97 for extending loan assistance to states for the completion of near complete irrigation scheme.

  • 👌Major/Medium Irrigation (MMI) includes Extension, Renovation and Modernization (ERM) of irrigation projects.

  • The assistance provided was entirely in the form on loan in the beginning but later a grant component was also added in 2005.

Jal Kranti Abhiyan

  • Launched on June 05, 2015.

  • Launched to consolidate water conservation and management in the country through a holistic and integrated approach.

  • Main objectives: “Strengthening grass root involvement of all stakeholders including Panchayati Raj institutions and local bodies for Participatory Irrigation Management. “

  • Two water stressed villages in each district of the country are to be selected under this yojana.
