Ujwal DISCOM Assurance Yojana (UDAY)

  • It is the financial turnaround and revival package for electricity distribution companies of India (DISCOMs).

  • The scheme is optional for the states to join.

  • 👌 Mizoram become the 27th state to join UDAY scheme.

  • Reducing the interest burden on the discoms.

  • Reducing cost of power, increasing operational efficiencies of discom.

  • Reduction in aggregate technical and commercial (AT&C) and transmission losses.

  • Demand side interventions in UDAY

Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDs for All (UJALA) Scheme

  • Launched on 1 May 2015.

  • 👌 Replacing the “Bachat Lamp Yojana”.

  • Implemented by Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), a joint venture of PSUs under the Union Ministry of Power.

  • Main objective of the scheme:

    • to promote efficient lighting

    • enhance awareness on using efficient equipment

    • reduce electricity bills

    • help preserve environment

GARV - II App

  • Launched to track Rural Household Electrification.

  • Aim to provide access to electricity to all households in the country.

  • Incorporated village wise; habitation wise base line data on household electrification for all states.

  • Allows peoples participation for rural electrification work.

  • Opens rural electrification work to public scrutiny.

  • It also has a citizen engagement window ‘SAMVAD’ 👌 to enhance participation.

Coal Mitra

  • 👌Web portal for allowing flexibility in utilization of domestic Coal.

  • Designed for transferring the coal reserves.

  • Leading to lower generation costs and ultimately lesser cost of electricity for the consumers.

24×7 Power for All

  • A joint initiative of the Centre & State governments.

  • For supply of quality and reliable 24×7 power to agricultural, industrial and domestic consumers.

  • Aim: Address all key aspects and activities to be undertaken across generation, transmission and distribution.

  • Achieve 100 % household electrification & develop transmission and sub transmission network.

Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DUGJY)

  • Aims to provide 24×7 uninterrupted electricity supply to each rural household across the country by 2022.

  • 👌Major components:

    • Strengthen of sub - transmission and distribution network

    • Feeder separation

    • Metering at all levels

  • Strengthen Micro grid and off grid distribution network

  • 👌Replaced Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY).

UJALA Scheme (Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDs for All)

  • UJALA scheme is LED - based Domestic Efficient Lighting Program (DELP).

  • Aim: To promote efficient lighting, reducing energy consumption and energy savings.

  • Implemented by Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) a joint venture of PSUs.

  • LED bulbs at 40 % of the market price will be distributed.

Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana (SAUBHAGYA)

  • Launched by Union Ministry of Power in September 2017.

  • Aim: To achieve universal household electrification in all parts of country.

  • Provide last mile electricity connectivity to all rural and urban households.

  • Provide free electricity to all households identified under Socio-Economic and Caste Census (SECC) data 2011.

  • Use Mobile App for easy & accelerated implementation of Scheme.

Street Lighting National Program (SLNP)

  • Launched in January 2015

  • Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) has installed 49 lakh LED street lights in 28 states/UTs.

  • Aim: To replace 1.34 crore conventional street lights with energy efficient LED lights by March, 2019.

  • 👌Rajasthan was the first state to adopt this scheme.
