National Skill Development Mission

  • Aim: To provide a strong institutional framework at Centre and States for implementation of skilling activities in the country.
  • Mission will be three - tiered.
  • Mission՚s Governing Council, chaired by the Prime Minister,
  • Provide overall guidance and policy direction.
  • Mission will also run select sub - missions in high priority areas.
  • NSDA, NSDC and Directorate of Training will function under the overall guidance of the Mission.

Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY)

  • Flagship outcome - based skill training scheme
  • Objective is to enable and mobilize a large number of Indian youth to take up skill training and become employable and earn their livelihood.
  • Monetary reward would be provided to trainees.
  • Mobilize youth for training.
  • Residential programs will be promoted.
  • Focus on skill training aligned to international standards.
  • Entire training and assessment fees are paid by the Government.

National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme

  • Main objective of the scheme is to promote apprenticeship training.
  • To increase the engagements of apprentices from present 2.3 lakh to 50 lakh cumulatively by 2020.
  • Scheme implemented by Director General of Training (DGT) .
  • All transactions of registration will be made in online mode.

Pradhan Mantri Yuva Yojana

  • Launched to scale up an ecosystem of entrepreneurship for youngsters.
  • Provide entrepreneurship education and training to over 7 lakh students in 5 years through 3,050 institutes.
  • Also, include easy access to information and mentor network.

Indian Institute of Skills

  • Aimed at making India the Skill Capital of the World.
  • 👌Country՚s first Indian Institute of Skills (IIS) at Kanpur.
  • 👌IIS was conceptualized keeping in mid Singapore՚s Institute of Technical Education.
  • Institute is being opened by the Skill Development Ministry in partnership with the Institute of Technical Education, Singapore.
  • Ministry has decided to have six such institutes.

Pravasi Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PKVY)

  • Scheme to skill Indian youth seeking jobs abroad - Pravasi Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PKVY) .
  • Aimed to boost confidence of the Indian youth.
  • PKVY will train and certify Indians, in line with international standards.
  • 👌Implemented by the National Skill Development Corporation.
