  • Good Samaritan is a person who voluntarily declares himself to be an eyewitness of a road accident.

  • Centre, in April 2016, had issued notification for protection of Good Samaritans.

  • Guidelines include:

    • They shall be treated respectfully.

    • Use of video Conferencing

    • Provision for the police to examine him at his residence or office or any place of his convenience.

Central Scheme for Assistance to Civilian Victims of Terrorist/Communal/Left Wing Extremist (LWE), Cross Border Firing and Mine/IED Blasts on Indian Territory

  • Any civilian who dies anywhere in the country due to:

    • terror attack,

    • LWE violence,

    • firing from across the border,

    • shelling or IED explosion

  • Given Rs. 5 lakh as compensation uniformly.

  • Amount will be given to the next of kin of the victim.

  • Also, 5 lakh will be given to those who receive 50 % or more disability or incapacitation due to the same reasons.

SAUNI Yojana - Boon for 11 Districts of Saurashtra Region - Key MAP Locations

  • First phase of SAUNI Yojana launched by PM Modi at Sanodara of Jamnagar district of Gujarat.

  • 115 dams in the Saurashtra region will be filled with excess water from the Sardar Sarovar dam.

  • SAUNI project involves making pipe canals instead of the conventional open canals.

  • It is an annual national event that brings together all stakeholders working in sanitation government, NGOs, academicians, researchers etc.

  • Each state will share their approaches most suitable to them to reach ODF.

Mission Kakatiya

  • Telangana government’s flagship program.

  • Aimed at restoring minor irrigation sources like tanks and other water bodies.

  • To help small and marginal farmers.

  • Name given in the remembrance and tribute to the Kakatiya rulers who developed large number of the irrigation tanks.
