First Green Charging Station

⪻ Articles ⪼

A green charging hub is being constructed along the Jaipur-Delhi-Agra-E-highway by the National Highway for Electric Vehicle (NHEV) which is an organization for promoting electrification of the country՚s transportation systems. This charging station would have a restaurant, coffee lounge, a bank, and an ATM along with a showroom and other amenities for the customers to use while the vehicle is charging.

The electric charging stations itself provides an emission free environment. This initiative is unique since it would use green construction techniques for EV stations besides providing a wholesome look and feel of the place.

Smart Charging and Back End Architecture

About

  • The new set up would be creating a net zero carbon infrastructure.
  • The main aim is to reduce carbon footprint to zero or move towards net-positive.
  • Incorporation of solar panels to provide renewable energy.
  • The green patches would be accessible to the people as green terraces or playing field.
  • While the vehicles are being charged, people waiting at the station could eat their meals or just hang out for a while.
  • Promotion of sustainable and green materials and not any concrete structure.
  • The stations are aimed at replacing the petrol pumps soon.
  • Besides green infrastructure, the idea also includes the EV charging station payback and lifecycle.
  • Two electric vehicle (EV) charging stations were inaugurated in Gurgaon recently.
  • Another thirty e-highway charging stations would be constructed in 90 days from the date of allocation of PSUs/private entities.

Way Ahead

  • The transport electrification in India over the next decade is expected to be driven by light electric vehicles (LEVs) .
  • LEVs would comprise two-wheelers like scooters, motorcycles, and three-wheelers (passenger and cargo) .
  • As power must be supplied to the battery at the right voltage and current levels to permit charging, EV charging requirements depend on the specifications of EV batteries.
  • Electric buses would also be present in significant numbers.
