First mega food park of Jharkhand has been inaugurated at village Getalsud in Ranchi district of state by Union Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal. Main aim behind the formation of this park is to motivate the growth of the food processing sector in the state. This park is promoted by Jharkhand Mega Food Park Pvt. Ltd.

Key facts:

At the estimated project cost 114.73 crore rupees this mega food park has set up in 51.50 acres.

It will have many facilities such as:

  • multi chamber cold storage,
  • vegetable dehydration line
  • Dry warehouse.
  • modern quality control
  • testing laboratory and
  • Processing facilities for fruits & vegetables.

This park has a central processing centre (CPC) at Ranchi and 6 primary processing centres (PPCs) to provide strong backward linkages at:

  • Lohardaga,
  • Hazaribagh,
  • Gumla,
  • Belchampa,
  • Domchach and
  • Patratu.

It will benefited for about 25,000 - 30,000 farmers to get better prices, add value to agricultural produce, reduce wastage of perishables. It also creates huge opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship to about six thousand people directly or indirectly in the state.
