The Prime Minister visited Jhansi & laid foundation stone of Defense Corridor in Jhansi & unveiled various development projects. A defence corridor refers to a route or a path along which domestic productions of defence equipment by public sector, private sector and MSMEs are lined up to enhance the operational capability of the defence forces.

  • Laying foundation stone of Defense Corridor, Defense corridor in Jhansi Agra stretch would create lot of direct & indirect employment to youths of this region. Many Foreign & Domestic defense related companies will invest in this region.

  • The defense corridor will also help in making India self-reliant in defense production.

Other Projects

  • Under AMRUT scheme, PM laid foundation Stone of Jhansi City Drinking Water Scheme Phase-II. Rs. 600 crore project is coming up to use Betwa river water for drinking purpose for Jhansi & adjoining villages.

  • Foundation stone of doubling of 425 km long Jhansi-Manikpur & Bhimsen-Khairar railway lines & Coach Refurbishing Workshop in Jhansi was also laid by PM on this occasion.

  • PM inaugurated electrification of 297 km long section of Jhansi- Kharia section. Projects would create lot of employment opportunities & would lead to overall development of Bundelkhand region.

  • West- North Inter-Region Power Transmission Strengthening Project to ensure uninterrupted power supply to Western Uttar Pradesh was dedicated to nation would go long way in meeting power demand in this region.

  • Another highlight was inauguration of Pahari Dam Modernization Project. It will benefit farmers by reducing water leakage from dam & make more water available for farmers.

  • PM also said that under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana about Rs. 7.5 Lakh crore will be deposited in bank accounts of farmers directly.
