Switzerland, Sweden, the Netherlands, the USA and the UK are ranked as most-innovative countries in the world where as nations group such as India, Kenya, and Viet Nam has given strong competition to their development-level peers according to the Global Innovation Index 2017 which is jointly prepared by Cornell University, INSEAD and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

  • India ranked at first position in Regional Innovation Leaders of Asia.
  • The GII surveys 130 economies every year based on many parameters such as patent filings, education spending providing decision, innovative, economic and social growth.
  • GII has countinuesaly noted major gap in innovative capacity between developed and developing nations and lacklustre growth rates for research and development (R&D) activities, both at the government and corporate levels in last 10 years.

  • The Global Innovation Index shortly called as GII.
  • It is a yearly publication which shows a merged indicator that ranks countries or economies for their environmental innovation and their innovation productions.
