New museum will incorporate Nehru Memorial Museum & Library (NMML) at Teen Murti Estate, official residence of India՚s 1st PM Jawaharlal Nehru.
Proposed Museum will be constructed at cost of ₹ 271 cr.
Museum on Prime Ministers of India
Teen Murti Estate has total area of 25.50 acres out of which, Nehru Memorial Museum Building occupies area of 4286 sq. meter & Library Building has area of 4552 sq. meter. Both areas occupy around 2 acres.
Govt. has decided to set up “Museum on Prime Ministers of India” in remaining area of 23 acres of Teen Murti Estate which is under Union Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs.
Museum Building Complex will be constructed w⟋built up area of 10975.36 sq. meters comprising of basement, ground & 1st floor w⟋galleries at all 3 levels.
Proposed Museum will include orientation space, souvenir shop, space for organizing talks & discussions, seminar halls, auditorium, workshop areas, library, documentation room, laboratory & archive areas.
Design of proposed Museum shall be symbolic of emergent & rising India, shaped over years by its eminent leaders.
It would focus on collecting, documenting, researching & disseminating information in respect of all PMs of India.
Significance of Prime Ministers of India Museum
Proposed Museum is dedicated to all PMs of India & is envisaged to give visitors holistic understanding of continued thread of leadership.
It would be single institution where visitors can learn abt PM՚s Office, its evolution, role & centrality to governance at Union level.
It will depict Modern India thru collections relating to each of PMs of India, their lives, works & significant contributions made towards nation building.
It will bring India՚s democratic experience alive to visitors.
It will encourage curiosity & research abt role of PM & his office.
It will provide interactive & informative experience to visitors & youth of India thru state of art audio-visual technology & effective modes of communication.
