Information and Broadcasting Ministry Prashant Pathrabe who has given additional charge to Prashant Pathrabe as Director of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII). Prashant Pathrabe was appointed as Interim Director of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) by Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry.

  • Prashant Pathrabe replaced incumbent Director DJ Narain who superannuated the office on 4 July 2015. Pathrabe had been associated with the media field for nearly two decades. Prashant Pathrabe will also continue to serve as the Director of Press Information Bureau (PIB) unit in Pune. He is Maharashtra-based senior Indian Information Service (IIS) officer of 1992 batch. Students are protesting and striking against Chauhan’s appointment by boycotting classes.
  • Earlier, Prashant Pathrabe had served as director of the National Film Archive of India (NFAI) and he had also worked in Doordarshan News and AIR News in Mumbai. The FTII administration too has taken a tough stand by asking students to resume academic activities or else face action including possible rustication.
  • Prashant Pathrabe has completed his post graduation (MBA) from IIM-Ahmedabad and joined the IIS after a couple of short stints in the private sector.
