India 81st on Global Index of Talent Competitiveness (Download PDF)

India was ranked 81st among 118 countries in 2017 Global index of talent competitiveness (GTI) list up from 92nd last year. The index was released on January 23, 2018, the first day of World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland.

What is GTCI?

  • Global Talent Competitiveness Index (GTCI) is an annual study.

  • It measures and ranks countries and cities on their ability to grow, attract and retain talent.

  • It was launched in 2013.

  • GTCI serves as a tool for governments, businesses, and non-profit organisation to analyse the current human resource trend and form their talent management strategy.

  • GTCI 2018 was developed by INSEAD, Adecco Group, and Tata Communications.

What Are the Highlights of 2018 GTCI?

  • The report has outlined that developed, high-income countries continue to dominate the rankings.

  • 2018 GTCI report has been titled ‘Diversity for competitiveness’.

  • The report has warned that the country may face a serious risk of worsening brain drain.

  • Switzerland has retained the top position. It is followed by Singapore and USA at number 2 and number 3 respectively.

  • 8 out of top 10 spots on the index are occupied by European countries.

  • Zurich (Switzerland), Stockholm (Sweden), and Oslo (Norway) took the top spots in Global Cities.
