India Indonesia signed MOU


India has signed two bases Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with Indonesia to reinforce it ties with its nautical neighbour. These MoUs were signed in the presence of Vice President Hamid Ansari and his equivalent Jusuf Kala after their two - sided talks in Jakarta.

Key features:

  • New and Renewable Energy sector.
  • It would aid the commitments both nations made to decrease carbon emissions by 2030 by 35 (India) and 29 (Indoesia) per cent respectively.
  • Cultural Exchange programme for three years from 2015 to 2018.

About Hamid Ansari:

  • Mohammad Hamid Ansari was born on 1 April 1937 in Kolkata, west Bengal.
  • He is the twelfth and the current vice president of India.
  • Ansari also worked as an ambassador and served as Vice - Chancellor of the Aligarh Muslim University from 2000 to 2002.
  • He was elected as Vice President of India on 10 August 2007.
