The Union Cabinet gave approval for continuation of scheme on Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) for another three financial years (FYs 2017 - 18 to 2019 - 20) and providing Grants-in-aid of Rs. 18 crore. The plan is to make the Institute self-sustainable by the end of FY 2019 - 20.

  • Allows the institute to conduct training programs, research activities, and projects in partnership with public and private sector in the niche areas of Corporate Governance to enhance employability.

What is IICA?

  • IICA is based in Gurgaon, Haryana.

  • The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) was registered as a society on September 12, 2008 under the Societies Registration Act, 1860.

  • It is an autonomous institute under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs delivering opportunities for research, education, and advocacy.

  • As a think tank, it curates a repository of data and knowledge for policy makers, regulators and other stakeholders working in the domain of corporate affairs.

  • Offers services to stakeholders in the field of corporate laws, corporate governance, CSR, accounting standards, investor education, etc.

  • Activities of IICA help first-generation entrepreneurs and small business for imparting multi-disciplinary skills, as they are unable to afford separate experts in management, law, accountancy, etc.

National Foundation for Corporate Social Responsibility (NFCSR)

  • NFCSR at IICA is responsible for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

  • Foundation comes under new provisions of Companies Act, 2013.
