The Carrom World championship is held every four years and this year՚s edition is considered the largest so far with over 15 countries participating in the elite event including USA, Germany, Canada, France, and Italy. The first day starts with doubles followed by the Swiss league, team events, and finally the singles.

Indian Women՚s Got Gold

  • Indian women՚s team won the finals with Sri Lanka held in Birmingham, England winning with a stellar score of 3 - 0.
  • S. Apoorwa and Kajol Kumari were the first ones to win gold followed by Parmila Devi and Tuba Shehar in the women՚s doubles event.
  • Appoorwa also secured a notable sixth place, the highest for any women player.

The Men՚s Team Settle for Silver

  • The Indian men՚s team- Sandeep Deorukhkar, Riyaz Akbar Ali, Prashant More, RM Shankara won the silver under guidance of Arun Kedar.
  • Indian contingent accompanied by the secretary of the All India Carrom Federation V. D. Narayan as the Technical Director for the World Championship.
  • Indian men՚s team had to settle for 2nd position in the team championship losing 1 - 2 to Sri Lanka in the final.
