India՚s Largest Renewable Energy Generation Park

  • The largest renewable energy park of India will come up in Gujarat with a generation capacity of 30 gigawatts (GW) . The foundation stone of Hybrid Renewable Energy Park was laid near Vighakot village in Gujarat՚s Kutch district. To achieve a renewable energy generation target of 450 GW by 2030, and 175 GW by 2022. India՚s solar power capacity has increased 16 % in the past six years.
  • Foundation stone were also laid for a desalination plant and a fully automated milk processing and packing plant in Kutch.

Projects Preview

  • The park will be spread over 72,600 hectares of land like that of Singapore and Bahrain.
  • The construction of the park would involve ₹ 1.5 lakh crore.
  • The renewable energy park will have two zones housing wind and solar power plants:
    • 49,000-hectare hybrid zone.
    • An additional wind park zone (23,000 hectares) .
  • About 1 lakh individuals will get the employment opportunity.
  • Approx. five crore tonne of carbon dioxide emissions every year (equivalent to planting 9 crore trees) would curb with the produced power.
  • This energy generation park will be fully operational in the next five years.

  • Adani Green Energy Ltd- Lion՚s share at 19,000 hectares in the hybrid park zone.
  • Sarjan Realities Ltd-9,500 hectares.
  • NTPC Ltd- 9,500 hectares.
  • Gujarat Industries Ltd- 4,750 hectares.
  • Gujarat State Electricity Corporation- remaining 6,650 hectares
  • Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) - Wind energy park, 23000 hectares.

Desalination Plant

  • The desalinated water plant will benefit nearly 8 lakh people across the regions of Mundra, Lakhpat, Abdasa and Nakhatrana talukas.
  • This is further expected to benefit by sharing the surplus with upstream districts of Bhachau, Rapar and Gandhidham.

Automated Milk Processing and Packing Plant

  • The fully automated milk processing and packing plant was laid at Sarhad Dairy Anjar, Kutch.
  • This plant would cost ₹ 121 crore with 2 lakh liters per day processing capacity.
