Make Procedure

  • ‘Make’ procedure as given out at Chapter-III of Defense Procurement Procedure (DPP) -2016, involves Defense personnel at various stages of development of a defense equipment.
  • ‘Make’ projects identified through consultative process with members from Services Head Quarters (SHQs).

Technology Development Fund (TDF) Scheme

  • TDF scheme funds development of defense and dual use technologies currently not available in Indian defense industry by creating an eco-system for cutting-edge technology capabilities for defense application.
  • Constitutes Empowered Committee and Technical Committee with representation from Armed Forces, involved in identification of technologies, project monitoring & mentoring activities.

‘Buy & Make (Indian) ’ and ‘Buy & Make’ Categories of Capital Acquisition

‘Buy & Make (Indian) ’ and ‘Buy & Make’ categories of capital acquisition under DPP tie-up Indian Vendor or Indian Production Agency with foreign OEMs, for indigenous production of defense equipment involving Transfer of Technology (ToT) of critical technologies with defense personnel engaged at various stages

Army Design Bureau (ADB)

  • SHQ (Army) established an Army Design Bureau (ADB) in August - 2016 for coordinating with Industry & Academia.
  • ADB acts as a central repository of technical expertise generating long-term research requirement for Indian Army etc.

Involvement of Army Personnel

Personnel from the Armed forces are posted in DRDO (Defence Research & Development Organisation) providing impetus to design & development of projects.
