Bharatiya Jnanpith’s prestigious Moortidevi Award for the year 2015 went to Prof. Kalakaluri Enoch a Noted Dalit voice, poet and Telugu writer for his novel Anantajivanam. Veteren art historian Dr Kapila Vatsyayana conferred him with the honor at the function in New Delhi.

  • Ananta Jeevanam is to bring to light the struggles of the downtrodden, weak, and the common men in Rayalaseema. The aim is also to preserve the historical and cultural inheritance of the region.

About Kalakaluri Enoch

  • Born on 1st July 1939 in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh.
  • Served as vice-chancellor of SV University.
  • Completed his higher education from Andhra University and earned BA degree in 1959.
  • Started writing short stories and poems from college and won many prizes.
  • Completed his PhD from Venkateswara University Tripura.
  • Awarded the Padma Shri (4th highest civilian award) in 2014 for his contributions to literature.

About Moortidevi Award

  • The Moortidevi Award is an annual literary award in India conferred by Bharatiya Jnanpith.
  • Founded in 1983.
  • Award includes a shawl, Saraswati Statue, citation and a cheque of four lakh rupees.
