National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) the largest hydropower Generation Company of India selected Jaisalmer (Rajasthan) for 50 MW wind power project (WPP).The project synchronized with the national grid in October 2016.

  • Inox wind, Rajasthan government, and NHPC signed a power purchase agreement for the establishment of 25 turbines of 2 MW for the project.
  • NHPC is involved in construction of 5 power projects with total installed capacity of 4290 MW including 1000 MW (Pakal Dul hydroelectric project at Kishtwar of Jammu and Kashmir) executed through JV Company.
  • Previously in March 2016 BHEL commissioned 40 MW hydroelectric project in West Bengal.
  • In October 2016, 3 Mega Hydro Projects in Himachal Pradesh were inaugurated - Parbati HEP is Stage-III project with a capacity of 540 MW commissioned by National Hydropower Corporation (NHPC) in Kullu district.
  • Still NHPC’s 10 projects including 7,151 MW did not get approval, including three projects of 1,186 MW to be implemented by subsidiary or joint venture companies.
