The challenge aims to give school students across the country a platform and opportunity to become solution creators for the problems they see around them and their communities. To make the young students understand the importance of technology and give them a platform, where they can be innovation creators. This initiative will allow the participants to gain a basic understanding on ‘Skills of the Future’ such as design thinking, ideation - idea generation, making, do-it-yourself concepts, collaboration etc

Launch of National Challenge for Youth-“Ideate for India- Creative Solutions Using Technology

  • The National e-Governance Division, Ministry of Electronics and IT in collaboration w/Intel India, w/support from the Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEandL), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Hon’ble Minister for Electronics and IT, Law and Justice, launched a National Challenge for Youths, “Ideate for India - Creative Solutions using Technology”, at New Delhi.

  • The DoSEandL will help reach out to State Education Departments, NVS, KVS and CBSE authorities to propagate the National Challenge amongst schools across the country.

  • From the top 360 ideas i. e. 10 top ideas from each of the 36 States and Union Territories will reflect possible and practical solutions towards solving local citizen centric problems covering welfare issues like agriculture, quality health, quality education, women safety, child safety, assistance to divyang, etc”.

Advantages of this Challenge

  • Ideate for India will empower and enable the students to transition from being ‘users’ of technology to become ‘creators’ of new indigenous technologies to solve local problems in their community by re-imagining solutions to work out critical local issues.

  • It will help inculcate innovation skills in youth and equip all students to utilize technology for the betterment of their communities and the society.

  • This will prepare them to contribute towards the realization of Digital India goals.

Key Features of this Challenge

  • The National Challenge is open to students of classes 6 - 12 all across the country - all 29 States and 7 Union Territories and aims to reach out to at least 1 million youth over the next 3 months.

  • There are 11 core theme areas on which students can share their ideas- healthcare services, education services, digital services, environment, women safety, traffic, infrastructure, agriculture, social welfare, disability, and tourism.

  • There will be 2 categories - Junior (classes 6–8) and Senior (classes 9 - 12)

  • In phase I – Students will access curated online videos and submit their proposed solutions/ideas in an online format as a video. Top 10 ideas will be shortlisted from each State and UT – leading to a total of 360 students

  • In phase II - 10 children selected as top performers per State and UT will be invited for a regional Tech-Creation Boot Camp.

  • Each group of 5 students will be escorted by their computer teacher/guardian for the boot camp. Travel, accommodation and boarding for students and guardians will be taken care of by the organizers

  • In phase III - 50 students will be selected based on their tech-creations being implemented in the community and invited to New Delhi for the National Showcasing and felicitated as Tech-Creation Champions.
