Union Ministery for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj & Mines inaugurated National Generic Document Registration System (NGDRS) in all sub-registrar offices in Andaman & Nicobar Islands & Punjab from New Delhi thru Video-Conferencing.

Key Details on National Generic Document Registration System

  • This is developed by Department of Land Resources thru National Informatics Centre.

  • This generic customizable software will enable ‘anywhere access’ to data & information to both common man & enforcement & regulatory agencies.

  • Due to registration thru digital means transparency will be promoted & people will get benefits in hassle-free manner.

In Andaman & Nicobar Islands

  • All 5 sub-registrar offices in UT of Andaman & Nicobar Islands are computerized & NGDRS is adopted in all 5 offices.

In Punjab

  • All 173 sub-registrar offices in State of Punjab are computerized & NGDRS is adopted in all 173 offices.

What is NGDRS? National Generic Document Registration System

  • NGDRS system is piloted in 3 States (Punjab, Rajasthan, Maharashtra).

  • 6 more states & UTs (Goa, A&N Islands, Bihar, Jharkhand, Manipur, Mizoram) are moving towards this system. 5 states (HP, AP, MP, Kerala, U’Khand) have shown interest to adopt this common software (NIC has given them guidance & technical demos).

  • Department is presently focusing on implementation of NGDRS in these 14 States.

  • Out of total 5083 sub-registrar offices in Country, 4509 are computerized & 2769 are connected w/tehsils.

  • GoI made DILRMP into cent % centrally-funded central sector scheme from 1st April 2016 to updated & error – free land records & easy access to information.
