’’National Mission on Cultural Mapping of India” has been launched under the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ by Culture & Tourism Minister Dr. Mahesh Sharma on the occation of birth centenary of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay at Goverdhan Block, Mathura District, Uttar Pradesh at the Block level mega talent hunt programme (Sanskritik Pratibha Khoj Samaroh).

Key Facts

  • The event was attend by the Shri Srikant Sharma, Energy Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Ministry’s Senior officials and many artists such as Padma, Sangeet Natak Akademi and State Awardees.
  • Many artist had taken part in this program by registering them self’s, they were judged by a panel of renowned artists of different art forms.
  • The main aim of this mission is to convert the huge and well-known cultural canvas of India into an objective cultural map, designing a mechanism to fulfil the aspirations of the whole artist community of the nation and save the rich cultural heritage of this country in the form of a cultural repository of artists and art forms.
  • This Mission cover data mapping, demography building formalising the processes and get all the cultural activities under one web based umbrella for better results.
  • The Mission also aims to open a direct path of communication of artists with the Government and end to end communication between artists for polish their talent.
  • This event will also organise in other state to cover all parts of the Country.
  • At the initial stage it will organise at Shimoga of Shimoga District, Karnataka, Thanesar of Kurukshetra District, Haryana, Chauri – Chaura of Gorakhpur District in Uttar Pradesh & Saraikela of Saraikela - Kharsawan District in Jharkhand.
  • Under this mission, no cultural talent or heritage will remain unattended.
  • Talent hunt competitions will also organised from Block level to National level.
  • In short all the Blocks of the Country means a total of 6.40 Lakh villages will be covered under this mission within next 3 years.
