National Productivity Council (NPC) celebrated its 61st Foundation Day & observes foundation day as Productivity Day, celebrates National Productivity Week from February 12 - 18,2019.

Details

  • An opportunity for long term economic prospects & regeneration of materials has been presented. Transitioning to an efficient circular economy will benefit industry & all stakeholders now & in future.

  • The role of National Productivity Council is very important in backdrop of mammoth target of growth to raise Indian economy to level of USD 5 trillion by 2025 & USD 10 trillion by 2035.

  • Our productivity must be comparable with our competitors in global & regional market value chain so that Indian products can remain competitive.

  • There are huge business opportunities in circular economy need of hour is to work with industry to reduce use of natural resources.

  • Transforming linear economy into circular economy is challenging task & challenges are going to become even more daunting in near future as we are looking at expanding our economy, problem of waste, problem of resources will be even more severe.

  • At series of functions are being organized between 12th to 18th February. Panel discussions on subjects like artificial intelligence by experts are also being organized to deliberate on challenges, benefits & outcomes from implementation of circular economy.

  • 13 Regional Directorate of NPC at Kolkata, Chennai, Guwahati, Bhubaneshwar & Chandigarh will organize seminars & workshops in coordination with State Governments, State PSUs & Businesses.

  • 23 Local Productivity Councils spread across country are also organizing workshops.

  • Ministries involved in production, trade, autonomous bodies, PSUs, apex institutions especially FICCI, industry associations have also been requested to observe productivity week.

  • Circular economy follows principle of preservation & enhancement of natural capital by controlling finite stocks & balancing renewable resource flows.

  • It works by extending product life span through improved design & servicing & relocating waste from end of supply chain to beginning – in effect, using resources more efficiently by using them over & over. Challenge lies in building circular economy knowledge & capacity.
