National Training Workshop of Master Trainers for 7thEconomic Census

National Training Workshop of Masters Trainers is a comprehensive training strategy to impart training to trainers engaged in upcoming 7th Economic Census held at Indian Habitat Center, New Delhi.

Overview

  • Objective: To impart training to Master Trainers including enumerators and supervisors engaged in the Seventh Economic Census 7th EC.
  • For the implementation of this program Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation (MoSPI) partnered with Common Service Centre, CSC e-Governance India Limited (CSC SPV) , a Special Purpose Vehicle under Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) .
  • The training program involved An Information Technology (IT) based digital platform for validation, and applications to be used for supervision and data capture in the field during 7th Economic Census.

Economic Censuses & 7Th Economic Census

  • The first Economic Census was organised in 1977.
  • The Second and third Economic Census were held in 1980 and 1990 respectively. The Fourth, Fifth and The Sixth edition were held in 1998,2005 & 2013 respectively.
  • The MoSPI on the basis of various structural and operational aspects all across the country provides numerical and non-numerical information collecting data from multiple sources.
  • Over 6000 State and District level training workshops would be organised in between May 2019 to June 2019.

Significance & Objectives

  • It provides detailed information on operational and economic variables, activity wise, and other characteristics like number of establishments, type of ownership, source of finance, number of persons employed, etc
  • The State, district, village and ward levels are the details about the establishments required all acorss the country. This is used for comprehensive analysis of structure of economy (macro, micro, regional levels) and for benchmark purposes.
  • The collected database serves as a sampling frame for drawing samples for socio economic surveys by Government and research organizations.
  • This information is used for micro level or decentralized planning and to assess contribution of various sectors of economy in gross domestic product (GDP) .
