On the third anniversary of his government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate India’s longest river bridge – the Dhola-Sadiya Bridge in Assam. The construction of the bridge began in 2011. The cost of the project is about Rs. 2056 crores.

  • He will also address a public meeting in which he is expected to speak about the three years of his government.

  • The bridge will connect Sadia, which is 540 Km from Guwahati and Dhola, 300 Km from Itanagar.
  • The bridge has been designed to withstand the weight of 60-tonne battle tanks
  • The construction of the bridge will reduce the distance from

    Rupai

    on NH- 37 in Assam to Meka- Roing on NH-52 in Arunachal Pradesh by 165 Km.
  • This reduction in travel time is expected to result in saving of petrol and diesel worth 10 lakh rupees per day.

About India’S Longest Bridge Dhola-Sadiya:

  • The strategic project, which would improve road connectivity to the border state of Arunachal Pradesh.
  • The expected date of Bridge Operation will be from May-2016
  • The Connecting Highway is scheduled to be operational from April-2017.
  • The construction began under the aegis of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in
