World-class Interpretation Centre & tourist facilities at Konark Sun Temple was inaugurated by Union Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas w/Utkal Divas celebrations in Odisha. Sun Temple of Konark in Odisha is one of the important tourist attractions in the region.

About Konark Sun Temple

  • Konark Sun Temple is also known as Arka Kshetra.

  • Situated in north-eastern corner of Puri dist.

  • Temple is dedicated to Sun God.

  • Konark temple was conceived as gigantic chariot of Sun God, w/12 pairs of ornamented wheels pulled by seven horses.

  • The crowning glory is the excellent Interpretation Centre, spread across eight acres.

  • The Interpretation Centre is designed to be user-friendly & interactive, w/multiple exhibits & multimedia displays. Boasting 5 galleries depicting the history, culture & architecture of Odisha.

  • There are 3 images of the Sun God on 3 diff. sides of the temple, precisely positioned to catch the rays of the Sun in the morning, noon & evening.
