President of India formally declared “Queen Pineapple” as state fruit of Tripura. He inaugurated National Highway from Matabari to Sabroom in Udaipur, Tripura under Bharatmala project.

Queen Pineapple Now State Fruit of Tripura (Important)

  • Only few days ago, 1st consignment of Queen Pineapple was exported to West Asia. This was imp. step in linking Tripura & Northeast region w/global trade.

  • Pineapples from Tripura will reach markets across country & abroad, especially in neighbouring countries.

  • President emphasized that Northeast & Tripura have pivotal place in India’s Act East Policy. This will help enhance business w/ASEAN countries & serve to realise Tripura’s economic potential.

Tripura has abundant forest resources. Conservation & sustainable use of forests, as well as providing assistance to tribal communities that are dependent on forests for their livelihood, is extremely important.

Queen Pineapple

  • Fruits are Spiny, golden yellow in color & emits pleasant aroma & flavor at ripen stage.

  • Fruits are harvested when eyes turns yellow during mid-May to mid-July when fruit is available.

  • Average weight of fruit varies from 600 Grams to 800 Grams.

  • It possesses all good Organoleptic qualities.

  • Juice bright yellow color.

  • TSS varies from 10o to 14o brix depending upon stage of maturity & season.

  • PH 4 to 4.5. Water content 80 % to 90%. Sweetness & unique aroma differentiates it w/Pineapple of other region of North East India.

  • National Highway from Matabari to Sabroom in Udaipur, Tripura under Bharatmala project is giving special attention to Northeast. As part of these programmes, 500 km of roads are being constructed in Tripura. There is immense potential for tourism in Tripura & this will be helped by connectivity projects.
  • State’s natural beauty, lush green forests & cultural heritage is draw for domestic & international tourists. Better rail & road connectivity will increase tourism & ancillary economic activity in state.
  • Matabari Temple complex in Udaipur was marked for re-development & augmentation as centre for religious tourism.
