About Kumar Bhattacharyya

  • Kumar Bhattacharyya is an Indian British engineer, educator and government advisor.
  • During his career, he has work as adviser of UK government for former Prime Ministers Margaret Thatcher and Tony Blair on manufacturing, innovation, and technology.
  • He has completed his Mechanical Engineering from an IIT-Kharagpur.
  • In the 1960s He moved to UK and started working as a graduate apprentice for six years at Lucas Industries.
  • Than He joined Manufacturing Systems at the University of Warwick as professor and later established the Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG) in 1980.
  • He made a life peer as Baron Bhattacharyya of Moseley in the County of West Midlands in 2004.
  • He is also a member of the House of Lords.
  • He was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1997 and was officially knighted in 2003.

  • The Regius professor is a university professor with royal appointment or patronage.
  • It was established in 1497 by the Scottish King James IV at Aberdeen University.
  • Firstly it was presented in the field of medicine.
  • Regius professors are usually addressed as Regius and not Professor.
