About Ram Nath Kovind: Ram Nath Kovind was born on 1st October 1945 at Paraunkh of Kanpur Dehat. Kovind is a politician from the Bharatiya Janata Party - BJP. He was elected to Rajya Sabha from state of Uttar Pradesh during the two terms of 1994 - 2000 and 2000 - 2006.

  • He is also an advocate by profession and practices in Delhi.
  • He is a former President of the BJP Dalit Morcha and President of the All - India Koli Samaj.
  • The President of India appointed him as the Governor of Bihar on 8th August 2015.

About taking oath as Governor of Bihar:

  • Ram Nath Kovind sworn in as 36th Governor of Bihar.
  • Acting Chief Justice of Patna High Court Iqbal Ahmed Ansari directed him the oath of office and secrecy as per provisions of Article 159 of Constitution.
  • Keshri Nath Tripathi who Governor of West Bengal and also holding additional charge of Bihar will be replaced by Mr. Kovind.
