  • The total cost was Rs. 615 crore including terminal construction, capital dredging and other costs

Ferry Service between Dhubri and Hatsingmari

  • Ro Ro service provides a direct link between Assam and Meghalaya avoiding circuitous route of 220 km. through Jogighopa to reach Hatsingmari.

What is RO-RO Service?

  • Roll-on roll-off (RO-RO) services use vessels, which can carry wheeled cargo, such as cars, trucks, semi-trailer trucks, trailers, and railroad cars directly.

  • The vehicles are driven on and off the ship on their own wheels.

  • This is in contrast to lift-on and lift-off (LoLo) vessels, which use a crane to load and unload cargo.
