Indian Women’s team settled for silver at Asian Rugby Sevens Trophy held at Vientiane, Laos. The team participated under aegis of Indian Rugby Football Union (IRFU). Seven teams that participated in this tournament played on a Round Robin basis.

  • Seven Asian countries, including South Korea, Philippines, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, India and hosts Laos participated in tournament played over two days.
  • Hupi Majhi from Odisha, India was the joint top try scorer of the tournament
  • The winner of this tournament will secure a spot in Asian Rugby Women’s Sevens Series, which will feature three legs and will be played between September 1 and October 14,2017.
  • The seven teams that participated in this tournament played on a Round Robin basis.

  • It was founded in 1968 and became affiliated to the International Rugby Board now World Rugby in 1999.
