NITI Aayog & Michael & Susan Dell Foundation (MSDF) signed Statement of Intent (SOI) to codify, document & share best practices to improve learning outcomes in public school education through systemic reforms, based on collective experiences of working with various state governments in India.

SOI was signed in presence of CEO, NITI Aayog, by Adviser (HRD), NITI Aayog & Managing Director (International), MSDF.

Details

  • NITI Aayog was established with core mandate of promoting cooperative & competitive federalism through evidence-based policy reform & knowledge inputs.

  • It has placed learning outcomes as key focus area for establishing sustainable education systems.

  • The School Education Quality Index (SEQI) is being developed to rank states/UTs on educational outcomes, with high weight age to learning outcomes.

  • It is implementing Sustainable Action for Transforming Human Capital in Education (SATH-E) initiative to induce systemic transformation in Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand & Odisha.

  • Education also forms crucial component of Aspirational Districts Programme, which seeks to improve status of education inmost underserved districts of India.

  • Pursuing its mandate of disseminating best practices & knowledge sharing, partnerships with stakeholders in development sphere are continuing endeavor of NITI Aayog.

Details About Partnership

  • The NITI Aayog & Michael & Susan Dell Foundation will documenter forms pursued by various state governments that have initiated systemic reforms in education & have begun to see improved learning outcomes over past few years, under this latest partnership.

  • Nearly 30 million children have been positively impacted across India through systemic reforms in education in different states.

  • A joint team comprising of state leaders, consultants, research agencies & educators shall work together to develo ‘theory of change’ based on learnings from states & will document impact on ground by commissioning third party studies to evaluate impact of systemic reforms in education.

  • Improving learning outcomes at scale will require coordinated & simultaneous effort with both academic & governance reforms.

  • The key findings & takeaways from this exercise will be disseminated to relevant decision-makers & policymakers in other states after consultative process of validating it.
