Sakhi-One Stop Centre to Help Woman Opened in Nagaland [ Current News (Concise) ]
The Government of Nagaland P B Acharya has recently launched woman helpline ‘181’ and “Sakhi-One Stop Centre”, an institute that support women affected by violence, at the district hospital Dimapur in Nagaland on June 27
- ‘Sakhi-One Stop Centre’ is a centrally sponsored scheme by the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) to be funded through Nirbhaya Fund.
- The objectives of the One Stop Centers are to provide integrated support and assistance to women affected by violence, both in private and public spaces under one roof and to facilitate immediate, emergency and non-emergency access to a range of services including medical, legal, psychological and counseling support to fight against any form of violence against women.
Objectives of One Stop Centres
One stop Centre will provide round the clock integrated service and assistant to woman effected by violence within the family, community and at the work place under one roof.
It will also facilitate immediate, emergency and non-emergency access to a range of services including medical, legal, psychological and counseling support under to fight against any form of violence against women
181 (Women Helpline)
Women helpline, 181 will provide 24 hour emergency response to all women affected by violence, through referral by linking them with appropriate authorities such as Police, hospital or OSC.
It will also provide information about women related government schemes and programs across the country through a single uniform number -181.
The Ministry of Women and Child Development, a branch of the Government of India, is the apex body for formulation and administration of the rules and regulations and laws relating to women and child development in India.
The current minister for the Ministry of Women and Child Development is Maneka Gandhi having held the portfolio since May, 2014.
