Sarabjit Singh Marwah- He became the first and only Indian-origin person to be appointed as member of the Canadian Senate.
- He is the third Sikh person in the Canadian parliament after Defence Minister Harjeet Sajjan and Science Minister Navdeep Bains.

About Sarabjit Singh Marwah
- Born in 1952 in Kolkata, West Bengal.
- Completed his graduation from St Stephen՚s College and the Delhi School of Economics.
- Earned MBA from the University of California.
- In 1978 started his career as financial analyst at Scotiabank in Toronto.
- Appointed as Chief operating Officer (COO) of the bank in 1998.
- Appointed as bank՚s senior executive vice president and chief financial officer (CFO) in 2002.
- In 2005 served as vice chairman and chief administrative officer.
- Served as vice chairman and COO of the bank from 2008 to 2014 till his retirement.
- Founding member of the Sikh Foundation of Canada encouraging Sikh culture and art.
