The prestigious Sustainable Development Leadership Award of the Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) was honored to Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Chamling for his vision and leadership in environment and sustainable development.Sikkim becomes first fully organic state of Inida.

  • President Pranab Mukherjee presented this award at “World Sustainable Development Summit” held in New Delhi. 
  • Sikkim is first and only fully organic state in India (as declared in January 2016) by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
  • Currently Sikkim has around 75,000 hectares of organic farms (National Programme for Organic Production) it contributes around 80,000 tonnes of organic production from a total of 1.24 million tonnes of recorded production.
