Sikkim Tops in of Swachh Bharat


Sikkim arises at first sport in the coverage of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan after two year of launch in October 2014 and Bihar reserve the last position in this Index. Prime Minister, Narendra Modi on 2 October 2014 at Rajghat, New Delhi, on the occasion of the 145th birthday of The Father of Our Nation MAHATMA GANDHI.

It is India’s biggest ever cleanliness drive. Around 3 million government schools, colleges and employees of India participated in this event.

Key facts:

  • The Rural Development Ministry has measured 75 selected districts and rank then based on how effectually Swachh Bharat is implemented and Sikkim and Mandi Himachal Pradesh are the top performers in 22 hilly districts. Arunachal Pradesh’s Papum Pare and Anjaw districts performance was poorest.

  • In the first phase 53 districts was covered in which Sindhudurg of Maharashtra and Nadia of West Bengal have performed  best and placed at top whereas Panchmahal of Gujarat and Dungarpur of Rajasthan have not performed well and are at the bottom.
  • Top five best performing States are:

  2. Himachal Pradesh
  3. Kerala
  4.  Haryana
  5. Uttarakhand
  • Five poorer presence states are:
  1. Bihar
  2. Odisha
  3. Jammu & Kashmir
  4. Jharkhand
  5. Telangana
