Sports Authority of India (SAI) was set up w/objective of promotion of Sports & Games. Also allocated responsibility of maintaining & utilizing infrastructure on behalf of Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports.

  • SAI is implementing SAI Training Centre (STC) Scheme in HP.

  • Under SAI Schemes 166 talented sports person (85 boys & 81 girls) are being trained on residential & non-residential basis.

What is SAI Training Centre (STC) Scheme

  • Scheme was aimed at grooming junior level sports persons in age group of 14 to 21.

  • Scheme’s main objective was to make possible for Central Government & State Government to work together for sports development efforts.

  • SAI has established 2 STCs, Dharamshala in Kangra & Bilaspur in Bilaspur Dist.

STC Scheme in Dharamshala, Kangra

  • Centre was established in the year of 1999.

  • Disciplines include in this centre are Athletics, Hockey, Kabaddi & Volleyball.

STC Scheme in Bilaspur

  • Centre was established in 1987.

  • Disciplines include in this centre are Boxing, Kabaddi & Volleyball.

  • Other Extension Centres are also established in HP:

    • Rainbow International School, NagrotaBhawan, Kangra

    • Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Dhwal, Mandi

    • Sirda Sports Academy, Sundernagar, Mandi

    • Maharaj Laxman Smarak Mahavidyalaya College, Sunder Nagar, Mandi

    • Kapoor Badminton Academy, Dehra, Kangra

    • P. G. Govt. College, Hamirpur
