  • Almost Rs. 6 Lakh crore allocated for Infrastructure

  • More than 1 crore houses to be constructed in rural areas

  • A ‘Sports Talent Search Portal’ started for transparent selection of talented sportspersons

  • A scheme launched to provide stipend of Rs. 6 lakh per annum to 1, 000 talented sportspersons

Safeguarding the Interests of Shramiks

  • Government increased the minimum wage of workers by more than 40 per cent

  • The number of registers for compliance of Labour laws reduced from 56 to 5

  • All returns are now filed online on the Shram Suvidha Portal

Ushering in an Era of Youth Led Development

  • Start Up India, Stand Up India, Skill India Mission, Mudra Yojana implemented to provide self-employment to the youth

  • Two schemes - ‘SANKALP’ and ‘STRIVE’ approved for skill development of youth in line with the needs of the industry

  • Enterprises creating new employment opportunities being provided financial assistance under the ‘PM Rojgar Protsahan Yojana’

  • About 5 lakh youth benefitted under the ‘National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme’

Quality and Affordable Health Care of All

  • In addition to medicines for heart patients, the cost of stent has been reduced up to 80%, the cost of knee implant regulated

  • In over 500 districts, more than 22 lakh dialysis sessions for 225 lakh patients conducted under ’National Dialysis Programme

  • To enhance the availability of doctors, 7 thousand post graduate seats and over 13 thousand MBBS seats approved

  • To ensure quality and transparency in medical education, National Medical Commission Bill’ introduced in Lok Sabha

  • Annual rate of increase in immunization coverage in the country has increased from 1 % to 6.7%, ‘Intensified Mission Indradhanush’ launched

Strengthening and Modernising the Education System

  • Government approved over 2400 ‘Atal Tinkering Labs’ under ‘Atal Innovation Mission’

  • National Testing Agency set up to conduct all examinations of higher educational institutions

  • 20 ‘Institutes of Eminence’ being set up. Under this, selected public sector institutions to be provided financial assistance of Rs. 10, 000 crore

  • Law enacted to provide autonomy to all ‘Indian Institutes of Management’ in order to upgrade them further

Quality and Affordable Health Care of All

  • New ‘National Health Policy’ formulated to provide better and affordable healthcare facilities to the poor & middle class

  • Traditional methods of treatment like Yoga and Ayurveda being promoted under the National AYUSH Mission

  • Over 3, 000 Jan Aushadhi Kendras opened across the country, 800 different medicines being made available at affordable rates

  • Over 5200 lifesaving branded medicines, surgical implants being provided through 111 Deendayal Amrit Yojana outlets at low rates

Ensuring Affordable Housing for All

  • Government is targeting to provide a house to every poor and homeless household by the year 2022

  • More than 93 lakh houses constructed in rural and urban areas in last 3.5 years

  • Under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana- Urban’, interest subvention of 6 % being provided to the poor

Empowering Divyangjan

  • Government enacted ‘Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016’

  • Provision made for 4 % reservation in government jobs and 5 % reservation in higher education

  • Over 6, 000 camps organised & more than 9 lakh Divyangjan given aids and assistive devices

Uplifting the Weaker Sections

  • A Constitution Amendment Bill introduced to provide Constitutional Status to the National Commission for Backward Classes

  • MSP of several forest produce collected by tribal people increased

  • Bamboo excluded from the category of tree, this provides freedom to cut, transport and use bamboo

  • Adivasi Swatantrata Sangram Sanghrahalaya being established to honour the invaluable contribution of tribal communities

Securing the Unsecured

  • 5 crore 71 Lakh farmers protected under PM Fasal Bima Yojana in 2017

  • Insurance schemes for the poor at a premium of 1 rupee per month and 90 paise per day

  • More than 18 crore poor covered under the ‘PM Suraksha Bima Yojana’ and ‘PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana’

  • Under the ‘Atal Pension Yojana’ about 80 Lakh senior citizens benefitted

Boosting India’s Digital Infrastructure

  • Digital India Mission providing due recognition and securing the rights of the poor and deprived

  • About 1 crore people made digitally literate under ‘Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharata Abhiyan’

  • ‘BHIM App’ is playing a major role in promoting digital transactions ‘Umang App’ has made more than 100 public services available on mobile phones

  • ‘Aadhar’ has helped in securing the rights of the poor by eliminating middlemen

  • Digital Payments being made for more than 400 schemes; over Rs. 57, 000 crore prevented from going into wrong hands

  • Number of mobile manufacturing companies in the country up from a mere 2 in 2014 to 113

Achieving New Heights in Space Programmes

  • For the first time in the world, 104 Satellites were launched successfully at one go by ISRO

  • In June 2017, the first developmental flight of India’s GSLV MK-III successfully launched

  • South Asian Satellite launched, demonstrating India’s commitment towards sharing technical benefits with neighbouring countries

  • ISRO also successfully launched its hundredth

Enhancing Connectivity through Modern Transport

National Highways & Waterways

  • ‘Bharatmala’ project for development of highways with corpus of Rs. 5 lakh 35 thousand crore

  • To enhance National Corridor Efficiency, about 53, 000 kms of National Highways identified

  • Major projects on Ganga River started in Varanasi, Sahibganj, Farakka and Haldia under Jalmarg Vikas Pariyojana

  • Works on SEZ in Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust, Smart Port Industrial Cities in Paradip & Deen Dayal Port Trust taken up under Sagarmala project


  • Investment in Railways for capacity development and modernization being enhanced continuously

  • Work on Mumbai-Ahmedabad High speed bullet train commenced

  • New Metro Rail Policy formulated which lays emphasis on ‘last mile connectivity’


  • ‘UDAN’ scheme launched to provide air connectivity to smaller cities

  • Under ‘UDAN’, work has been initiated to connect 56 airports and 31 helipads in a short span of 15 months

  • Flights have commenced from 16 such airports

Powering India’s Growth

  • For the first time, increase in Power generation capacity in the country has exceeded the target

  • Power availability to States ensured at cheap rates by completing work on the ‘One Nation, One Grid’

  • Schemes worth Rs. 1.5 lakh crore implemented to strengthen power distribution network in all villages & towns

  • The work of electrifying 18, 000 villages is nearing completion More than 28 crore LED bulbs distributed under ‘UJALA scheme’

  • In last 3 years, solar energy generation has increased by 7 times

Saving Humanity

  • India remains the First Responder, whether it’s earthquake in Nepal, flood in Sri Lanka or water crisis in Maldives

  • More than 90, 000 Indians stranded abroad safely brought back since 2014

  • India secured representation in International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, International Maritime Organization & Economic and Social Council

  • India emerged victorious in a keenly contested election to the International Court of Justice

  • Subsequent to inclusion in MTCR in 2017, India secures membership of Wassenar Arrangement & Australia Group in 2018

Accelerating Pace of Development in North-East

  • North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme sanctioned with 100 % central assistance

  • Schemes worth Rs. 10, 000 crore sanctioned in the last 3 years to strengthen electricity transmission and distribution

  • In Mizoram, a Hydro Electric Power Project constructed at a cost of Rs. 913 crore dedicated to the nation

  • Work on Agartala-Akhaura rail-link which will connect India and Bangladesh is progressing rapidly

  • Shillong - Tura road project dedicated to the people in December

  • Longest river-bridge of the country- Dhola-Sadiya dedicated to the nation

  • Government decided to develop the Barak River as National waterway- 16

Giving Strength to Financial Institutions

  • In the last 3 and half years, inflation rate, Government’s fiscal and current account deficits have shown a decline

  • In 2017, Foreign Exchange Reserves rose to a level of more than $410 billion

  • FDI increased from $36 billion to $60 billion during the last 3 years

Strengthening Defence, Securing the Nation

  • Significant improvement in internal security of the country

  • Reduction in incidents of Naxal-Maoist violence

  • With better coordination, Army, Para-Military Forces and Jammu-Kashmir Police giving a befitting response to infiltrators

  • In last 3 years, maximum number of youth influenced by Naxal-Maoist ideology surrendered and joined the main stream

  • More than Rs. 18, 000 crore sanctioned for the modernization of Police Forces

  • Strategic Partnership in Defence Manufacturing sector policy being given a final shape

  • Govt fulfilled its commitment of OROP, disbursed arrears of over Rs. 10, 000 crore to over 20 lakh ex-servicemen

Saving Humanity

  • Operations at Chabahar Port commenced, first shipment of wheat sent to Afghanistan through this Port

  • Air-corridor between India and Afghanistan made operational this year and shipment of freight started

  • First PlO-Parliamentarian Conference organized in which elected representatives from 24 countries participated

  • MEA & Department of Posts embarked upon a comprehensive programme for expansion of Passport services in the country

Simplifying Procedures to Enhance Transparency

  • In the last three years, 1428 obsolete laws repealed

  • Government introduced GST which is the biggest tax-reform since Independence

  • National Anti-profiteering Authority constituted to pass benefits of lower prices of goods and services to consumers

  • Government to re-capitalize public sector banks by infusing more than Rs. 2 lakh crore

  • Registration of about 3.5 lakh dubious companies cancelled in the last 1 year

  • GeM portal created to bring transparency in government procurement

  • To give preference to ‘Make in India’ in public procurement, new policy formulated to promote domestic manufacturing and services

  • India moved up from 142nd to 100th rank in the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business ranking

Holistic Empowerment of Minorities

  • Employment opportunities provided to youth of all communities under programmes like ‘Seekho Aur Kamao’, ‘Usttad’, ‘Garib Nawaz Kaushal Vikas Yojana’, ‘Nai Roshni’

  • More than 45 lakh students benefitted from scholarships, fellowships, skill development and coaching schemes

  • Restriction on women above 45 years of age to perform Haj unaccompanied by their male relatives removed

Prosperous Farmers Progressive Nation

  • Record production of more than 275 million tonnes of food grain & 300 million tonnes of horticultural produce

  • Agricultural commodities valued at about Rs. 36, 000 crore traded on e-NAM

  • Work of completing 99 Irrigation projects that were held up for decades is in progress

  • Production bonus given on pulses and oil seeds, record rise of over 38 % seen

  • PM Kisan Sampada Yojana to prevent damage to agriculture produce before it reaches market

  • Dairy Processing Infrastructure Development Fund with a corpus of Rs. 11, 000 crore being set up

  • Production of urea increased, mandatory 100 % Neem coating of urea eliminated its black marketing

Strengthening the Economic Democracy

  • Under the Jan Dhan Yojana. about 31 crore bank accounts opened for poor

  • Savings Bank accounts held by women are going up to more than 40 per cent from the earlier 29 per cent.

  • Under the ‘Mudra Yojana’, about 10 crore loans sanctioned, more than Rs. 4 Lakh crore worth of loans disbursed

  • About 3 crore first time beneficiaries received assistance for self-employment under Mudra Yojana

Empowering Mari Shakti

  • Over 3.3 crore cooking gas connections provided to poor women under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana

  • Bill on Triple Talaq introduced in Parliament to enable Muslim women to live a life of self-respect

  • ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ scheme extended from 161 districts to 640 districts

  • Maternity Benefit Act amended. It provides for 26 weeks of paid leave in place of 12 weeks
