Sunil Chhetri becomes first Indian footballer to score 50 international goals [ Current News (Concise) ]
Sunil Chhetri has become the first Indian footballer to score 50 international goals. He achieved this target in his 87th match who held between match between India and Guam for 2018 world cup qualifying. India lost this match to Guam by 1-2 goals. It was India’s second successive defeat in the preliminary joint qualification second round.
Earlier India had lost the heir first match against Oman. Top three Indian goal scorer footballers are –
- Sunil Chhetri- He had scored 50 goals in 87 matches. He is captain of Indian Football team.
- Bhaichung Bhutia- He had scored 42 goals in 107 matches. He is former captain of Indian Football team.
- IM Vijayan- He had 40 goals from 79 matches.
Sunil Chhetri was born 3 August 1984 in Secunderabad district of Telangana. At present, Chhetri plays as a striker for Bengaluru FC in the I-League. In 2002, Chhetri had started his professional career with Mohun Bagan FC. Sunil Chhetri is also known as the best goaler of the Indian football team.
