The First Made in India Robot

The Tata Motors have unveiled the first conceptualized, designed and manufactured articulated industrial robot called “BRABO” . BRABO stands for “Bravo Robot” . The robot has been developed indigenously for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) in India. It has been developed to complement the human workforce and repeatedly perform high volume, dangerous and time-consuming tasks ranging from handling of raw materials to packaging of finished products. It has been designed and manufactured at the TAL՚s Pune factory. All the other part except the motors and drives were indigenously manufactured in India. BRABO has four patents registered in its name and TAL has also applied for an intellectual property (IP) certification for the robot.

What Are Articulated Robots?

Articulated Robots
  • They are robots with rotary joints
  • They can range from simple two-joined structures to systems with 10 or more interacting joints
  • They have variety of means which includes electric motors
  • Some types of robots, such asrobotic arms, can be articulated or non-articulated.

What Are Industrial Robots?

Industrial Robots
  • It is robot system used for manufacturing
  • They are automated, programmable and capable of movement on two or more axes.
  • There typical working applications are welding, painting, assembly, pick and place for printed circuit boards, packaging and labeling, palletizing, product inspection, and testing; all accomplished with high endurance, speed, and precision.
  • They can help in material handling and provide interfaces.
